All the rides I've done have gates into the hold. But
the point is that it's not, grab a pulse and go as the
poster implied... 

She was thinking that in endurance, you don't have a
hold at all, just have to meet criteria and then you
can blast off.

Some vets still actually have regular holds instead
of pulse into a hold.  
You have a set time for a hold and you can meet p/r
criteria any time during 
that hold.  Luckily, most do the gate into hold
now.....
