[RC] electrocution from tank heater - Vanessa S Waters

Horrible news from my neighbor... Patti Coles needs our prayers and
sympathy. Her new imported bred 7yr Friesian Ster mare was electrocuted
today while drinking from a new plastic tank with a new heater in the
bottom. It seems that for some unknown reason the tank had a reading of
240 v when tested with a tester. The barn is just being built and either
a conduit was compromised with a backhoe or some other reason why the
ground failed. Patti is very new to horses and is devastated at
witnessing with her own eyes this horrible tragedy. Has anyone ever heard
of this happening? In 25 years of using tanks with tank heaters, I have
never heard of this. Vanessa Waters #7084
