RE: [RC] Standardbreds.. & part.. - heidi

 I just checked the new point standings and in the NE the top 3
heavywieght
and #2 middleweight horses are Arab Standardbred crosses. I've seen lots
of these on the trail but never one for sale.  Libby

I think that's because many of the people who are riding them bred them
intentionally as personal riding horses, with no intention of selling
them.  :-)  I know that was the case with Elwin Wines and Misfit, 30 years
ago.  He studied Arab bloodlines that were doing well in the early days of
the sport, and chose the Arab half accordingly--and picked a very capable
Standardbred as well.  His whole goal was to breed a superior riding horse
for himself, and he succeeded.  And I suspect that's been the case with
many of the more recent ones as well.
