Can anyone offer any pointers on how to reset
ground control shoes - i.e. get them off the
feet without ripping them to shreds, so they can
be reused?

Hi Lucy,

My farrier just pulls the nails out individually. We've never
had any problems resetting the GCs for mutiple uses, but as you
note, pulling the nails out seems to be the hardest part. Anyway,
he just pulls the nails one at a time, rather than prying the
shoe like you would a metal one.

FWIW, my farrier had never heard of GCs until I bought some and
asked him to put them on one of my horses. His initial reaction
was "these will never work" and he thought I'd be calling him
in a matter of weeks to have him put steel back on. He now buys
the GCs in bulk and puts them on quite a few of his clients'
horses as well as some of his own horses. :)
