Re: [RC] Goopy eyes - Bette LamoreI leased out a mare once and the lessee called the vet when she had a runny eye. The vet put some steroid drops in it, not realizing she has a scratch on the cornea. Her eye turned blue and got foggier and foggier with time-- a horrible reaction. I still have the mare and she haas lost most sight in that eye-- but compensates pretty well. I never use steroid drops myself and really question the vet thoroughly when he recommends them, to be sure that there is no scratch. There is an ointment that is safe that my vet gave me extra-- has neomycin in it-- and I usually try that to see if there is improvement before calling out the vet.
