[RC] Running with your horse - Michael Maul

In response to:"could someone actually walk/run the entire course while leading their horse, still get a completion and possibly awards? "

At the Fireworks ride in California a few years ago, I caught up with a guy running with his horse just after the first vet check. I thought I'd ride with him a few minutes and then go on.

After a few minutes - I increased my pace a little and figured that would be the last I'd see this guy.

He followed me all the way into the lunch check and then got out 2 minutes before me. I never saw him again and he ran the whole way.

He came in 18th of 75 starting and I came in 21st. He was the 7th place LW in the ride.

The guy was Dennis Rinde - a world class ultra marathoner. Not everyone can do this but certainly some can.
