RE: [RC] [RC] My horse choked on beet pulp - Tina Hicks

and some horses can't take BP AT ALL! We had a mare that choked on it wet, dry, shredded, pelleted and any combination therein. Over a period of a few months we'd try another combination and without fail she'd choke. She didn't bolt her food but she was a cribber which may have contributed.

We finally learned our lesson and quit feeding her BP :-p Choke is very scary :( Some horses just can't eat BP <shrug>

Not true! I can do that with Sunny, but not Magic. He choked TWICE on just
"wet" beet pulp shreds. To be safe, you should SOAK! All horses are
different.
