[RC] molasses & beet pulp - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Where I live, the only shredded beet pulp available
has molasses in it. I have a suspected
insulin-resistant horse (blood test pending) so I was
directed by the vet to feed plain beet pulp without
any added molasses.

Sarah,

I might also suggest that in this horse's case you consider
not only soaking the pellets, but also rinsing and draining
them pre-feeding. It's a lot more work, but for me it's worth
knowing I'm doing all I can to eliminate sugar from the diet
of a horse where it's essential that she gets no sugar. I do
purchase a brand (OH Kruse) that claims to have no added
molasses, but I can SEE the color difference after I've drained
it.
