Yep, I learned that too recently. I used it often and it works. They call it "turn off your horse". You teach them to lower their head below
their withers. Never fails and you hear them sigh! I love it. It's like you are telling them to "knock off the bull and get to work" and my mare listens
pretty good after, it may take a couple times. Since I've been doing this stuff, I noticed her ear on my more. Especially on the trail when I'm all cozy and I'm forgetting
to pay attention because she is being so good. I always noticed her ear on my a lot.

I've found that if mare is starting to take over the decisions during a ride if I just stop, get off and shut her down until her focus is back with me I have fewer problems.  I guess this is a type of re-adjustment.  We have been a team for a number of years now, but sometimes she still wants to get head strong and racy.  There have been days though.......when I wanted to pull the gun out.  :-)
