[RC] cold weather riding--after care - Alice Yovich

Maybe I've never ridden in cold enough climates for it to matter, but I know that (whether good or not) I've rarely done anything for my horses when they've been ridden hard when it's cool. My horses are outside with a run in shed and they've never acted cold at all. I usually brush them well and then they go out, sometimes still damp. They walk themselves dry. I've often wondered if this was a bad approach, but so far, so good, even if it has just been luck.

Occasionally, after a rain shower, I'll notice the pony, with his thicker coat (go figure) is a little chilled) At rides, I try to blanket if I think it's cool, but I'm warm natured, so I'm not sure I'm the best gage.
