[RC] mules and hinnies - Dot Wiggins

As has been said, a mule has an Ass, Donkey, Jack, for a sire, and a mare
for a dam.
A hinny has a stallion for a sire and a jenny, (female donkey) for a dam.
In my limited experience a hinny is a bit more "horse like" in appearence
and disposition. Shorter ears for example. A bit easier to train if you
are used to horses.
A jack will, as a rule, mate with any female he can catch. Many stallions
will refuse to breed the most willing jenny. I've heard the only sure way
to get a stallion that will mate with jennies is to raise him with them, and
not breed him to mares.
Probably more than you wanted to know.
