I haven't tried that.  For some reason, probably because of the greater
rigidity of the western fender, I don't feel like my foot is going to hang
up.  I definitely don't like to ride in running shoes, hiking shoes, or
Ariat Terrains. They just don't work for me, mostly because I need a stiff
sole to protect my foot from pressure against the stirrup.  I love my Ariat
Performers.

As well, the horse I'm now

riding used to pull away from me as soon as I had only one foot in the
stirrup, and I would lose my balance and end up on the ground almost

him.  He doesn't do that any more, but I still don't like taking the

that I may have only one foot on the ground and something dangerous is

Barbara, can you dismount English style from a Western saddle?   I have a
sports saddle and the cantle is too high for me to do that, but, I agree
with the safety issue.  I miss my old Stubben for that reason, although

the

sports saddle makes it harder for the horse to run out from under you.

Getting on or off, since most of my injuries came at around that time, has
seemed a lot more risky to me.
