RE: [RC] [RC] mackinder saddle - Jena Williams

I purchased a Mackinder last year for my horse who has a "funky" back. The first one I bought used, it turned out to be assymetrical. The angle of one side was more narrow than the other. It was very obvious on my horse, as the saddle's narrow side corresponded to my horses wide side. Go figure. Even though I did not buy it from Mackinder himself he took it back (it was in new condition) and sent me a "wide" version replacement. It was great, but my horses assymetrical shoulders still threw it sideways and it kept trying to "run out" in back of the girth causing me to be thrown forward. It did not do this on my husbands horse or our other Arab. I sold it and ride in either a Bob Marshall trail model or my new saddle a Startrekk Comfort.

Mackinders are beautiful well made saddles. They run narrow. Even the "wide" was closer to a medium to me. I don't know how well they would be for long miles as I never had the chance to find out.
