[RC] California Dreamin' - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I am someone who has been traveling to California for short trips for around 10
years. Each time I come home, (to Central Missouri), I say.. "Darn, I'd sure
like to live there." I've been to most of the regions of the state one time or
another and am just "in Love" with Northern California.

But I don't want to move permanently, I just want to Visit for a year or so.
( I can't afford your housing costs!) Yeah, I know you locals aren't so
thrilled with us folks from outside moving in and staying!

So what I want to know is if some of you California folks think the following
plan is feasible.

I plan to bring my LQ trailer and live in it. It's way big enough and has all
of the comforts of home.
I'd like to find a place where I can hook up my trailer, pay rent for the
space/hookups and rent some pasture. I plan to bring one horse, maybe two at
most.

I'm not wanting to get above the snow line and would prefer to be in the Foot
Hills east of Sacramento, but would consider a place north or south of
Sacramento. Any ideas of locations to look at, folks to talk to?

I retire in 17 months, (but who's counting) so plan to do this sometime in
2006. Lucky me, I can retire at the age of 51.

You ask ... how come I can retire so early? It's because I've been a "lifer" as
a State Employee for the State of Missouri. That's a whole 'nother story.

I am so excited about doing this.. Might be my dream come true.

Any suggestions... comments will be appreciated. Lucie Hess, Columbia, Mo.
