RE: [RC] [RC] Old Selam - Three Colic Horses - Howard Bramhall

There but for the Grace of God go I.

If there are any on here who really believe this can never happen to them because they think they know everything there is to know to prevent it from happening, please, read Diane's post here.

These are fragile creatures and endurance is a tough sport. We ask a lot from our horses when we decide to participate in this sport which makes it our responsibility and ours alone. ONe must put the horse above the sport, each and every step down that endurance trail.

I wrote about what happened to me and Dance Line years ago concerning this experience that you woud not wish on your worst enemy. I got jumped on by quite a few who told me I was riding too fast, that I had no clue what I was doing, that they even expected this to happen to me because they knew everything and I knew nothing. My story even got pulled from Endurance News after the first part (my stories have many parts) was published because it offended a few who knew how to make it seem like it offended many (power of the Internet and politics).

If you're new to ridecamp and haven't ever read the story I wrote about my experience email me personally and I'll be more than happy to send it to you. I'll even send you the sanitized version, absent of witches and sexual innuendo.

cya,
Howard

I can't tell you how scary this whole thing was and I certainly hope no one else has to go through it, ever. One thing I can honestly say is the emergency medical treatment they received at Idaho Equine was the best they could have had anywhere. The professionalism of the staff, the compasion and caring was incredible. They made a very difficult situation more bearable.

Thanks to all of you who have called and emailed to find out how Strike had faired. I really appreciate your concern, your thoughts and your prayers.

Diane & Tony Dann and Strike too!
