I don't know enough about it to speak on it, but perhaps someone on this list has opinions or knowledge regarding parasite migration when ambient pressure changes due to approaching weather changes, sudden shifts from hot to cold, etc.?  It seems to me that it wouldn't take much of a "migration" to cause a horse (especially in extremis already due to tasking) to start showing signs of colic.
