[RC] [RC] Mares vs geldings statistics - Ashley Marury

I too have noticed people riding Geldings more than Mares. Mostly everyone who rides in Endurance competitively or for the money, say like.... Valerie Kanavy, I have never seen them riding a Mare. I think people usually ride Geldings because they don't put up as much of a fuss as Mares do. Mares tend to have a mind of your own and can be a handful when they don't want to do something, I know my mare does. They let you know when they don't want to do something and geldings, at least all the geldings I've ridden, do what you ask without a problem so that is why I think there are more geldings out there. But I could be wrong.

As far as the never giving up thing, that is exactly how my mare is. She would jump the Grand Canyon if she could to catch that horse in front of her.... or get back to camp to her food dish. :) Although some people don't like that sort of attitude because they think they can't tell when their horse has had enough, but you can always tell as long as you know the horse.

Ashley.
