[RC] Shoes & Pads - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I have used & sold ShockTamer Hoof Pads for over 10 years. I have used them on
my TB who is very flat & tender footed, so therefore I couldn't keep any kind
of packing under the pads, it just worked out. I tried everything, BUT the
manufacturer recommends that you put 2 1/4 inch holes on each side of the frog
area, this allows mud & such to drain & prevents suction to pull the shoe off.
I have never had a problem with junk under the pads. I have never had a shoe
sucked off in mud. I hose out the dirt & mud from under the pads after every
work out, about 3 times a week especially after the competition & squirt 7%
Iodine under the pad. I spray out most of the stuff that would accumulate &
the iodine keeps the sole dry & hard. When I pull shoes in the winter you can
not tell the horse has been wearing pads all season & he is not tender footed.

This is not a commercial for my pads. I am only confirming that there is
really not a lot of junk that accumulates under the pad. When my horse is
re-set there is accually very little even when it has been several days from
the last spray clean. So the idea of the cut out, or some sort of hole must be
the trick, I think. But I also believe in putting something under the pad to
keep out thrush & damp. When I used leather pads the sole always seemed to
stay wet. Also I think they loosen the clinches. The ShockTamers help hold
the clinches & can be reset. They work for me & do all that they claim they
do, so of course I am sold.
