I can heartily recommend Horseguard tape.
Purchase on www.horseguardfence.com. It
costs a bit more, but lasts and lasts. The insulators are much better than
usual tape. As their advertisement says horses really see and respect the
dark colored wide tape. I've never had them go through it, but I have only
been using it for 5 years.
I kept horses on wire electric for 25 years.
Yes they did get out once or twice, but I would rather have a wandering horse
than one cut up or worse by high tensile wire, or barbed wire or splintered
wood.
