I once slept on the front seat of a pickup on a 5-day ride, rather than in a
tent, which was way too cold.  But that was 20 years ago!

Just look at what people camp with now. No longer are we using tents and
small trailers. Some of these LQ trailers border on the size and comfort of
hotel rooms. Very nice, but not the way endurance was done 10-20-30 years
ago. I think it all fits >>into a nice neat little package.....we seem to
want comfort more than we want challenge.

So if I'm still sleeping in the front seat of my pickup, or on the cot in
the back of an open 2 horse I'm a purist? Ha, ha. I feel superior. ;-)) You
do have something there though. When it's cold it feels better to get up and
get on a horse than it does to stay in my bed.
