Re: [RC] [RC] ? FEI and 100 mile competitions/elevators - RDCARRIE

Where I think elevators are MUCH needed, though, is on LDs, with the
option to elevate to the 50. ?Folks who know they are going to do 50
regardless are much more willing to simply enter the 50 to start with, but
I HAVE seen several cases where someone toying with moving up to 50s would
enter the familiar LD and then be willing to go on if the horse was up to
their expectations at the end.

That is a good idea...it really might get people to move up, and doing that
extra 25 mile might not seem like an insurmountable task, when they've only
been riding for a few hours.

Personnally, I would love to see more 75s. There are almost none here in CT
region, although they seem to be popular in the NW. I've done 50s, and someday
want to do 100s (with my new horse, who just turned 4 and isn't even under
saddle yet - got a ways to go - ha!). I know it's just a mental thing, but I
know myself...I will move up 100s much sooner if I can go from doing 50s to
doing a couple of 75s (or maybe even just one), *then* trying The Big One.
It's all psychological. Making the smaller jump of adding another 25 miles to
a 50, rather than doubling it.

Dawn in East Texas
and Epic Sundance (new horse? you talkin' 'bout me?!?)
