Re: [RC] Cavessons (was: Kimberwicke) - Kristen A Fisher

I missed the beginning of this thread, but you can get plain schooling
cavesons for around $35 at www.sstack.com
Click on the Arabian/Gaited menu item on left, then under Arabian training
you will find cavesons.

I won't buy a bridle with a flash noseband, but finding
a regular noseband leather bridle is tougher. Just about
everything you see these days has a flash noseband.
What's up with that?

You need to look in a place that sells tack for show hunters. A flash
noseband is a forbidden piece of tack in the hunter ring, and since, in
the hunter ring, looks is everything, you can't get away with having a
cavesson with a flash attachment and just not put the flash on, because
that little loop would be unsightly and put the judge off in an instant
:).

However, if you aren't concerned with looks (which I am so _I_ don't own
any cavessons with flash attachments) then just taking the flash off
works just fine.

You can also buy a dressage double bridle. Since you can't use a flash
with a double bridle, the cavesson for a double bridle doesn't have an
attachment for a flash.

Or barring all these things, they DO sell cavessons completely
separately...and then you can put it on your western bridle if you want
:).

All of these things come in leather.
