[RC] Sommer Endurance Saddle - Laura Hayes

In answer to the question of whether the Sommer is a good saddle--

I have the Sommer Oakfield.  I took the stirrups and fenders off and replaced them with leathers and wide stirrups.  I put sheepskin over the leathers.

It is a comfortable saddle for me- the twist is narrow and the stirrups hang on safety bars in a dressage position.  It has beautiful german leather and is well made.

The adjustable panels have three widths.  I have used all three widths on different horses.  The panels have the ability to be easily restuffed without taking them apart- simply open a velcro slit and add or subtract wool.

I just started using the saddle with an equipedic pad- had used a woolback and was not happy with that.  I am still undecided about this saddle.  In many ways I love it--the feel, the rider fit, the wt., the english dressage girthing, BUT, have had some loin soreness on all three horses I have used it on.  I have not had this problem with the same horses with different saddles.  I am not giving up yet, and will try to restuff....

Soooo, I guess that is not so helpful!!  I'll let you know in another thousand miles!!
