RE: [RC] Sidebone causing Lameness - kstandefer

Sidebone can be non-articular and articular. As long as it is non-articular it
shouldn't cause any pain. Articular means it has begun/is articulating with
the joints nearby.

So, to say sidebone never causes lameness isn't true. But, usually sidebone is
non-articular and there should be no lameness from non-articular sidebone.

Sidebone is thought to be caused by imbalances in the hoof (either
medial/lateral imbalances, or long toe/low heel which excessively stresses the
joints and ligaments). So, if the sidebone is just beginning and the cause is
removed, the soundness should not be affected.
