[RC] Torn back muscle - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Hi. I'm actually a registered user, but can't seem to post a message, so used
the guest post.

Anyone have experience with a (horse's) torn back muscle (I think in the loin
area) that can give suggestions on treatment? I didn't even know my horse was
having back problems; just went in for a Coggins and mentioned that I laid him
off 6 weeks this summer because a saddle had torn up his back. The horse
flinched when my vet ran his fist down one side, so he rubbed the muscles from
the inside and found that he was sore. He put my horse on daily bute and said
to "just leave him alone" for up to six months, but I'll bet there are things I
can do to help the healing process.

Thanks
