Re: [RC] [RC] Our Two Puppies, Part Three - Deanna GermanI second the recommendation of the book "How to Raise a Puppy you can live with." Well, it seems as if Rotweilers are in a special breed section with special requirements generating separate paperwork. <snip> There are very good reasons for that. I found some of the paperwork I had to fill out for the Humane Society, because Timmy was part Rotweiler, a little humorous. On this one form they actually asked if I had ever been arrested. Annnd... there's a very good reason for that too that isn't very humorous. You need to tell the truth. I'm a little concerned that they don't ask everyone no matter what breed they're adopting if they've been arrested. A "yes" answer should generate additional inquiries as to why, when, and how many times. Howard, if it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be. There's another dog that's out there for you if Timmy doesn't work out. A dog that boomerangs repeatedly to a shelter or rescue gets harder and harder to place because it has a "record". The shelter is just doing what it can with limited resources to make sure the placement will stick. BTW, well-bred Rottweilers (selectively bred for health, conformation, brains AND temperament) are THE sweetest dogs I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. The ones with poor temperament should never be bred. Deanna PS - to keep this endurance related, most of my riding friends have shelter rescues :-) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
