==========================================

 Most of ours field trial horses are about 15-2 +/-.But they are usually
carrying about 225 or more lbs.(40-60 year old good ol' boy in winter
clothing,25lb trooper saddle,water jugs,etc etc.)There are a lot of them(but
not a majority of them) who do about three thousand or more miles in a year on
"okay" rest and care,not as good as that provided by you endurance people,but
not too bad either.They tend to look mighty lean by the end of the season
(April)I think a small horse is at a disadvantage in our situation. We walk
fast,canter a lot,but also stop briefly constantly.We cannot choose our
speed,for that is dictated by the demands of the moment.Right now the pros and
a lot of amateurs are in dog camp on the Canadian and Dakota prairies,on
horseback all day,getting ready for the first trials of the year.
