Heck, if it depends on having an audience, especially in Athens, well, endurance is cooked. It will never be an Olympic event, and, as Martha says,"And, that's a good thing." lol.

Not much of a crowd the first few days, with swimming or gymnastics. Kind of embarassing (for the world and the Athenians). If it's because of terrorism, then, my friend, it looks as though the terrorists are winning.

You are confusing FEI with the Olympics.  Only FEI disciplines get into
the Olympics--but not ALL FEI disciplines do.  If I recall, reining will
likely be added at some point in the future.  Endurance gets talked about
from time to time, but the difficulty of adding an endurance venue to a
crowded urban Olympic setting is one drawback, and another is that it just
isn't a big drawing sort of "spectator" sport.  Folks like stuff that they
can see the performance in their living rooms in 2 minutes and get the
results of the whole thing in an hour...
