This past week end I went to the Long X two day ride near Watford City,
ND. I've done this ride several times and every year I enjoy it more.
The scenery is spectacular as most of the ride is near the rugged
Badland country and we rode in that kind of terrain. There were times we
went through small groves of trees, but mostly the ride was a mix of
badland country and long stretches of open ranch land. Camp was near the
Missouri River in a CCC campground with plenty of water, toilets and
excellent parking. I especially like this ride as the ride managers,
volunteers and 4H kids were so friendly, helpful and worked hard to put
on a quality ride. This year the weather was good, in the mid 80's with
cool nights and clear skies. North Dakota has just a few rides as does
some of our other Mountain region states. I would urge those of you who
would like to see some new country and enjoy a really fantastic ride to
come out to North Dakota next year to the Long X    Dorothy Sue
