RE: [RC] emergency markers - Susan E. Garlinghouse

My experience with grease markers has been that they still wear off fairly rapidly to the point of being semi-unreadable.  I haven’t had to try it myself, but a family friend in the San Diego area had to do a very last minute evacuation from the fires last year and all he had time for was to spray paint a phone number onto the sides of the horses before turning them loose.  It was several weeks before they were found, they had been running loose out towards Julian or some such and at that time the man who found them could still read enough of the phone number to find the right person with just one or two false starts.  No, I don’t think spraying the horse with latex paint would be harmful, and would certainly be the lesser of two worries if you had a fire or hurricane bearing down on you.

Just a thought.
