[RC] Plastic Shoes More - Roger Rittenhouse

Shoer came today. NO ONE is left in the EQUIFLEX shoes.
Damages to hoof nails hole splits. over sized nail holes from all the
excess motion twisting of the shoe on the foot, 'rotty' junk in the
holes, flares, white line junk,
3 had then removed last time but the hoof still shows problems. My one
mare had the front 2 left on after 5 weeks.. lost the hind 2 last
week. She had a good flare on one and nail hole crud on all.

All are either barefoot or back in steel with Luwex rim pads.

Since I just got 'allowed' to think about ridding, I hope to try and
get up next week -- BUT it is going to rain all this week..so I wont
try until after the weekend.
Regular horse was 6 weeks long.. and of course he lost all 4 of his
steel shoes and pads.. so far we found one shoe. Will look this weekend
some. Shoer had back issues and after doing 5 others trim 3, shoe 2,
he thought it best to setup Omni for Wed.. not going to ride anyway,
so he just trimmed and shaped him. He has been out of plastic for 6
weeks - foot looks fine.

My final opinion is they will work for SOME but not many horses. I
MAYBE would try them for a given hard surface rocky ride -- then take
them off..Here on the wet muddy east- they just dont work..

I really gave them a good try - Started to test run them in NOV- but
now its time to go to what was working.
