Re: [RC] Wintec endurance - heidi

Does anyone have any experience with this saddle? I have a hard to fit
horse. I have been riding in a Syd Hill Steve Brady signature series
saddle. It no longer fits him. (it is perching up on top of his back
now)
I need to sell and I would like to try the Wintec. I was looking for
information on it first though.

I've sure been happy with mine! No one saddle will fit every horse
(exchangeable gullets or not) but it turned out to be a good fit for the
horses I'm currently riding.

Main problems I see with it--as was pointed out several months ago, the
fact that it does not come in smaller seat sizes makes it put smaller
people in an awkward position. This has not been an issue for either my
husband or me--hubby because he is tall and has long feet, so his foot
length puts him into the proper position in the seat, and me because I am
<ahem> "fluffy" so I fill up the seat and am consequently put in the
proper position over my smaller feet. <g> But I can see where it might
be an issue for somebody who was my height (5"1'), finer-boned, and 100
lbs dripping wet.

Also, it does tend to hold heat--I've gotten around that with a Skito
Dryback pad.

I found that the Wintec Webbers also pinched my knees much worse than
regular leathers (again, likely somewhat because I am "fluffy") and caused
raw spots--solved that with fleece tubes over the Webbers.

It has otherwise been a minimal-care saddle that has held up well (hubby's
is getting pretty ratty, but it is also older than the hills and has
considerable mileage--mine still looks pretty mint, after buying it
lightly used and riding it for the better part of two seasons) and I've
been quite happy with it.
