[RC] Experiences with Plastic Shoes - Benedikte Whitman

I use GC shoes and so have been following this thread with interest. One
thought I have for some problems is that I no longer tighten my cliches.
When we first started putting GCs on, I would tighten the clinches when
they looked like they had risen but then the nails would break inside the
hoof after a while and the shoe would spin off. Since I have stopped
doing that, I have not had that problem again.

I think that compared to steel shoes, the clinches move around and look
like they need to be retightened, but they actually get to their "happy
spot" and then stay there. The reclinching seems to over stress and
weaken the nail. Just my $0.05.
