Re: [RC] [RC] [RC]Horse Buying/Selling - Nancy MittsThat's not what I'm getting at, at all. The "central authority" would be no more likely to chose "correctly" than any one breed show fads do now. There just seems to be an attitude prevalent among endurance riders that it is somewhat "stupid" to pay several thousand for an endurance prospect instead of going to the local auction. If one is able to pay what it really costs a breeder to raise a horse up to riding age, it would be nice if they found a breeder whose stock they liked and buy from them to support their efforts. Not everyone can afford to do that, I understand. I started out with a $300 project horse, and there is something to be said for rescues. Maybe I'm just niave in thinking that there is NOT an endless supply of good horses out there to be bought at bargain prices.
