Re: [RC] Sight Unseen - Carol Stiles

Suzanne,
I've had the same experience with selling. I totally sympathize with you.
On the other hand if you're spending several thousand for a horse, I think
you should have it at least vet checked first. I usually know within 5
minutes of talking to someone on the phone if I want to sell my horse to
them. If you feel uncomfortable about them just tell them you don't think
your horse is right for them or what they want to do with it. And I've only
sold to "local" people so I haven't had a problem with scams. There's always
those "nutcases" looking for the "perfect" horse, (me included) which of
course, we all know does not exist. Every horse seems to have some flaw,
some just more than others. : )
Take care,
Carol (bored at midnight)

I've bought a few that way too. But I've sure never SOLD one that
way!!(and
don't think I'd want to either) Probably shouldn't admit this,,,but I'm
possibly the easiest person in the world to sell a horse to. It only takes
me about 15 minutes to decide, and I almost never ride one first. But when
I'm selling one, I always seem to get the folks that bring an entourage of
"horse experts" with them. They want to see the horse in the stall, in the
pasture,in the trailer, free-lounged, tacked up, ridden in the corral,
ridden down the street, ridden thru water, over a plastic tarp, in a
parade.
Then they need a video for their trainer, then they have to bring the
trainer out to ride. Maybe take a few lessons. Then they need to talk to
MY
trainer,my vet, the previous owner/s, and anyone who has ever ridden the
horse. Then they bring their farrier, the lady that owns the boarding
stable and finally, their vet. Then they want to know if they can take my
horse 100 miles away for a 30 day trial. LOL, I'm exaggerating, but not by
much!!!!! I'd MUCH rather buy a horse than sell one.
