RE: [RC] how cold is too cold? Bad footing - eznet

My nomination for the absolute worst winter (maybe anytime) footing, is 10
inches of snow over chisel plow. The horse is right there one step and up to
their elbow or hock the next. It never really freezes, it's 3 now, as the
deep cuts bring up heat and the snow blankets it in. Libby

Jon

We have the exact same problem here in Kentucky. While it isn't very cold,
because of all the rain the past month what you get is a thin layer of icy
crust over slippery ground. Rode early in the week and had to walk the
majority of the time. And just think, when it finally does warm up. we'll
have all the mud to ride through. Oh, well, good thing mine are all
barefoot.
