My guess is that the flesh is macerated (saturated with water)
due to being wrapped.  Know how your fingers and toes turn
white, soft and doughy if you soak in the tub too long?  That's
maceration. Happens because moisture is trapped under the wrap
or banadage. Should not be much of a problem, though you might
want to give him a few hours aday un-bandaged to let it air out
and firm up, if you can put him in a deeply bedded stall for
comfort.
