[RC] The horses perspective - Amber B Fort

I don't know about others, but think there are many out there who have horses as opinnionated as mine.  "Jerry" is a stallion that I have started completely on my own and WE have completed one 25 mile ride.   Now I know this in no way makes me an expert but, let me tell you, Jerry plainly tells me when he has had enough, lets me know when I get 'too much in his mouth', I am ready for more/faster speeds, etc.  He also, has made me a better rider in that if my timing is off for a correction, he will protest it.  If I correct him and he KNOWS what it is for, he calmly accepts it and generally will not do it again.

With this horse, my bond with him almost as strong as with my very first horse, one I grew up on and had till his "crossing over" in my arms at the age of 21.  I never thought I would have another horse that would even come close to the relationship I had with my first horse.

I would think that with the amount of time spent with a horse getting it ready for this type of riding, the rider/horse bond would be alot better than some I have seen.  The horse plaining telling the rider, "I don't get it, I am tired of doing this", etc."

My boy, Jerry, has plainly told me from his actions that he does like the endurance and all the trail/conditioning involved.  Once, I am done with my own pregnancy, We will be back on the trail and hopefully, completing some more rides.

I think that a lot of people FORGET what and why we are doing endurance and riding horses and let the chance of winning an award out weigh the REWARD of being, completing, and spending time with our equine partner on a ride.
