[RC] completion awards - kay mathews

I'm with Angie on this one too. The only time I ever experienced this was at a ride (a 75) I did out of my region (W). When we checked in they gave us our shirts and said this is your "completion award". I asked if I had to give it back if I didn't complete..ha ha . Well it RAINED and RAINED - terribly slippery trail. We finished...when we got to camp, the "ride office" (an RV) was gone & our soggy dinner was left out - that's it. The vet crawled out of her tent to verify our condition/completion. That was the end of that. I felt let down and to this day, don't like the shirt even tho I earned it big time. I don't value it much, probably because they didn't. Would I do the ride again? Probably. I just like to ride and now I know what to expect. I met some really great people that day(& nite) and I'll always remember the trail was spectacular in parts and I'd like to see it on a dry day. Some ride managers in this area put little "goodies" in our ride packets. Stuff like tootsie rolls, electrolytes, samples of this and that. I always appreciate these little gifts, but don't consider them completion awards.
