[RC] Spooking/spin suggestions - Sharlene Roberts-Caudle

I have never thought of myself as a great rider of
spooking spinning horses--in fact when I was young my
Appaloosa only did the spook in place thing. He would
jump straight up 6 inches, and come down in the same
place with me still in the saddle. I just sat on a
girlfriend's Quarter Horse once--one minute I was
sitting on the saddle and the next I was on the ground
beside her--don't know what happened. She was a very
quick barrel horse.

However, now I ride an Arab that can do a 180 almost
faster than I can realize he's done it--but I haven't
come off yet. I credit my Boz saddle which puts me
very close to his pivot point. Now instead of being a
victim of centrifigal (sp?) force, my body just does a
180 in place. I have lost a stirrup when the spin
included a change in elevation, but I feel so much
more secure now. I also ride with the stirrups a bit
shorter than I originally believed was correct. Maybe
this will help.
