[RC] Contracted tendons question - Sarah W

I will be getting a mare next week that had contracted
tendons as a foal. She is now 8 years old and has had
minimal work - she is not even saddle broke yet, so
she's had a pretty easy life thus far. As it has been
explained to me, she suffered from a nutritional
contraction at 3 weeks of age. She was born with no
problems, but around 2-3 weeks her dam foundered quite
badly, and her tendons then contracted. They took her
into the local university and had surgery done to
correct the problem. She has never shown any signs of
lameness. She is a pure, Polish bred Arab that I'm
getting for free, so I'm definitely interested in what
potential she has.

I'm curious what, if any, long term effects are of
this type of surgery. Will her performance ability be
limited? What type of care do I need to give her legs
before or after a workout? Thanks for any and all
information.
