Subject: Tonjia's accident

Hi,
I know there are stories flying around about Tonjia's mishap on the
Western States 50.
I just came from her house and this is what happened. Yes, it was most

unfortunate but it was nobody's fault. It was just a misstep by her
horse,
"Tinsing. It happened not too far out of Deadwood and before the
meadow

(where the horse trough used to be) right after the switchbacks. She
jumped off when he lost his balance and started to fall over the edge.
She
tried to hold him but missed the reins. As he crashed down the hill
she

went after him and in the process broke her ankle. But not knowing
that, she hobbled down to the river and kept searching for him all day.

Her good
friend and neighbor, Gary Hall, found him later in the day, and
her. Tinsing was dead. It was a terrible fall. Tonjia is heart
broken

over his death but will ride again!
Tonjia lives in Michigan Bluff and has riden that trail 100's of
times. Both she and Tinsing knew the trail well. Nobody better than
her!!!!! It just shows that no matter what, it can be a dangerour
trail

and you can never be too careful. I just thank God that she is OK. I
hope this puts to rest the rumor that it happened because the horse was

crowded. She is adamant that it was not so. Marjorie Pryor-Spiller
