RE: [RC] [RC] [RC] invocation - Maddy Smart

I personally don't have any objection to an invocation, just as long as it isn't very specific as to which God etc. But what if the RM doesn't want an invocation?

Thank you, Kathy. I think thats basically all I was trying to say...just like the other riders are dismissed so RM can hold a "newbies" meeting or the 25 miler orientation, don't have the invocation part of the official ride meeting. If RM wanted to say, OK the ride meeting is over, but we're going to hold a group prayer for those who want to attend, that would be fine.

I won't bother you if you want to pray at your trailer ahead of, = during or after a ride, but please don't cram it down my throat at a = ride meeting.

Of course, anyone could pray at their own trailer before mounting. However, many who pray generally recognize the power of group prayer, so it could be announced that there will be an invocation (at a spot other than the start) "for those who want to participate". That should not offend anyone.(:>)
