[RC] nutrition and beet pulp - Paul Latiolais

My horse is changing color. I started using beet pulp early this year and his coat has gone all to hell. He used to be a black horse. When he shed out this spring it quickly turned brown, which usually does not happen until the coat is about to shed. If you look close, it is blotchy too.

I have worked him a lot more this year. I do give him vitamins, but I cut back on the local alfalfa based feed that had vitamins in it, when I added beet pulp. I am thinking I must be giving him less of something. He also gets extra selenium. I just started adding Vitamin E and biotin. If that works, how long will it take to notice a difference? The mare's coat is not looking great either, but she is a sorel, so I really can't tell a big difference. And she has not been worked as hard.
