Re: [RC] Fw: Hopkins Creek ride story part one - rides2far

The front runners were going incredibly fast. In fact, the winning
time was slightly under 4 hours and the winner did the last ten
miles in an average of 19.5 miles an hour

This is incredible! Is this really possible? Has anyone ever heard of
an average time like that? I am not disputing it, just find it
amazing.

If my memory serves me right, Valarie on Cash, Nina Warren on Desert
Ballad and Melissa Crain on Whoa Jack did the last 10 miles of a 100 in
under 30 minutes which would be over 20mph. It was on a dirt road and
they took a truck out the next morning and measured it again to make sure
it really happened.

Personally, I shouldn't give a s--- where the other people on the course
are, and if I find myself starting to concern myself over this, I remind
myself that this is the first step on the road to overriding my horse and
tell myself to "knock it off!" :)
