What Chris discovered is what I also discovered - you have to find what
works best for your horse. The traditional jointed snaffle would not
work on my horse - in fact he would clinch his teeth and it would be a
fist fight to get it in when he saw you coming with it.
I found a low port mullen mouth pelham was what worked for him. That
gives me the option of using either one of the two reins if I want.
You just have to try enough bits to find the one that works. The Myler
might work and again it might not - would be nice to be able to try
before you buy.

Hi Deby,
Long story to tell you to try something other than a
traditional snaffle. Try a mullen mouth, or low ported
bit. Patrade makes some good bits that work similarly
to Mylers at about half the cost.
Good luck!

A regular snaffle is not quite enough on the trail. I
was wondering about the Myler bits but wasn't too
crazy about spending over $100 on a bit. Suggestions
please.
