==========================================

   So,here I sit.
I read the last Endurance News and I remember going to rides. I remember
the length of the ride wasn't the thing for me, it was getting to ride, any
ride, meeting new people.
Life changes right before our eyes and many of us never truly notice the
small things that constitute (eventually) a major shift in our worlds.
I miss going to rides. I miss meeting old friends and making new ones. I
miss the mountains, the woods, the roily rivers.
This weekend, many of you are at rides...25's, 50's or 100's. You are the
lucky ones. I know you did whatever you had to do to get to 'em. I know that
each of you go to 'em with different so-called "goals" in mind...but I also
know that each of you cares for your horse and realize that "carrying you" is
the least of what he/she does for you. LIFTING YOU is the true effect.
Health, money, personal dilemma of all sorts, keeps many of us home and off
the trails. Many of us never even realize how much we miss the trails with
friends.
When the emotions of Ridecamp get a bit our of hand, try and remember that
each of us eventually "swing a leg over" and head down the same trails.
I remember the joy of considerate ride management, well-marked trails, a
LaVonne Booth "Goody" here and there...but mostly, I remember the horse and his
effort to find me what it is I needed on that day.
I hope you all have great rides, and make great friends.
Ryder(and one day soon, perhaps, to be again)

as delusional as that one may be.
