Re: [RC] GPS Mileage - Kristen A Fisher

I have noticed that if anything, my GPS reads a bit short, and it is usually
when you are winding through an area - it may not realize that even though
point A & B may actually be 10 yds apart, you may have had to go 10x that
distance to get between the 2 points!

My husband is a pilot and says even if the GPS
doesn't work under heavy foliage, as soon as it
picks up the signal again it computes the distance
missed while under foliage.

However, it makes the assumption that you went in a straight line while
under the foliage. Rarely ever is this an accurate assumption (since
while under foliage you are probably going to have to go around some
trees:)).

Personally, I shouldn't give a s--- where the other people on the course
are, and if I find myself starting to concern myself over this, I remind
myself that this is the first step on the road to overriding my horse and
tell myself to "knock it off!" :)
