[RC] Feet and Shoeing - Dolores Arste

How many folks out there x-ray their sound horse's feet? At all, regularly
or never.

If you x-ray, what is the position of P3 relative to the hoof wall and what
is the P3 angle relative to the ground.

I'd also like to gather statistics on hoof angle, hoof wall length along the
front of the wall, height of heel and angle of the coronet band. There is
more that I'd like to know but if you would send this information to me
privately, I'll post back the results. I'd like this info on your sound
horses especially those that have been competing sound for some time.

The reason for this is that I trim myself. I have been trimming all my
horses for about 2 years and successfully brought my cushings mare back from
founder last year barefoot. She foundered again Christmas Day. She is
holding her own. We expect its due to the Cushings.

I have more questions that are not answered or not answered to my
satisfaction in the papers and publications that I have read. So, your
information will help me to help her.

I have a wonderful farrier who puts up with me and my questions and does my
shoeing when I compete. So, this is not about barefoot. Or competing
barefoot. I'd just want to gather some info. So, please send me this
information on your shod or unshod horses, if you have it.

Thanks so much.

Dolores Arste
