[RC] Old Dominion Shoes and Encouragement - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Two years ago I rode the Old Dominion 100 in aluminum eventers in the front
(with pads) and steel shoes in the back and finished with the same shoes I
started with. I think he travelled better without all the weight on his feet.
I always have at least one spare set of shoes for all feet with my crew because
I have lost shoes on that trail in the past.

It is a wonderful ride - my absolute favorite! If you have the chance to ride
it you should do so because the scenery is spectacular and the trail
challenging. The OD offers a well prepared top notch veterinary staff, farriers
and great ride management. To cross the finish line at the Old Dominion 100 is
an absolutely undescribable high and a sense of accomplishment like I have
never known! For real insight into the essence of the ride and trail, read Tom
Site's (goearth) commentary.
